Day One. seems Ling is not good with numbers.

This isn't Day One. What day is it? I have no idea... so, sadly, we're settling on "Day One".

Thinking back I can't honestly tell you what happened on the real Day One. Where was I? What did I hear? What did I see? ...nothing comes to mind. I don't even know what year the real Day One fell in. Interesting, but not exactly the point. The point is that I want to live a greener life. There it is, the whole reason I'm here in one seemingly very simple statement. "I want to live a greener life." Unfortunately I don't have a fascinating story to tell you about just how I came to my own personal epic decision. No one grand and shocking revelation that changed my life in the blink of an eye. Thank God the story of the real Day One is not the point or I'd be done before starting and I really, really feel the need to be here expressing myself and hopefully connecting with others on similar paths.

All I can say about how this started is that for at least the last two years the state of our environment has been urging me to live differently. To live in a way that I at one point assumed would leave me feeling deprived but with a sense that I was at least doing something for the greater good. I've been so happy to be so wrong! I love living a more sustainable life! It's more fulfilling than I'd ever imagined and I'm only 1/2 way down the path! Though now that I'm 1/2 way I'm getting a little stumbly. It's not that I want my old life back it's more a case of wanting to delve deeper and to move forward with a community. I'm also feeling a bit stumbly because I've realized that when you're devoted to changing or saving something as large as say... the planet... you simply cannot do it alone. It's easy on that first half of the path to think that all you need to do is recycle your own old containers and you're doing your part. Wow! That's so not the case. So maybe this is Day One after all. Day One of Part Two?

Whatever. It is at least the first day that I'm reaching out to blog. So with far too much to say on day one I'm just going to leave you with "see you on Day Two!".
